WOW!!! Love them both! I'd have to go for the convertible if I was forced to make a choice..........but it would be a crazy tough choice.
Roadster drives MUCH better but both are a ton of fun to drive... I would have a hard time choosing... Luckily I don't have to
The silver dash was easy to recognize as a gullwing's but I did not recognize the other one as being a (later) 300SL's dash. I can imagine, the '55 with the drum brakes all around and the positive kin pin offset is known to be a tougher ride than the later models. My attempt to match colour and vintage (1972 Volkswagen 1302 Cabriolet and 176.007):
Here you are (BTW it's not a bug, it's a feature ;-) ): Unfortunately the exterior paint job lost a lot of its attraction since I took these pictures after finishing the restauration 25 years ago.
Here is my '63 Nova SS Convertible that I started the thread with!! I totally agree, we need more posts!!! Love to see the awesome watches and dashboards!!! - Jeff
You are a fortunate man to own both. The Gullwing would be my choice. I nearly bought a SLS (modern Gullwing) a couple of years ago but the depreciation turned me against it. With your Gullwing, the appreciation keeps it as a dream. I'm just one lottery win away from having one - and a Dino, Stratos '73 RS etc.
No, my bad... My fathers cars but I have the pleasure whenever I'm home... Both bought around 15 years ago and at a fraction of their current value... Both get driven quite a bit and are definitely not garage queens...
