One of the watches I'm interested in is the original DSOTM, the one with the pin buckle. The trouble is pricing either new or pre owned is a bit of a minefield. Any help with ball park costs from the EU for either new or pre owned would be appreciated.

So...I actually owned the DSOTM with the deployant version for a year or so, then sold it earlier this year. You're right, I really had a hard time selling because prices are all over the place for some reason. A few scratches on the AR really hurts the value, and the buckle versions are cheaper than the deployant versions. Once I even saw one with a chipped lug (!!) that was listed for 4K, I believe.

A quick ebay search on sold listings turned up prices of around 6k, but I've definitely seen (and personally sold) the DSOTM for much lower than 6k, more in the lower-mid 5k range. Most of the sales listings I saw were in US, but I think EU shouldn't be drastically different. For sure in my case I didn't sell from the US.

Of course it's just my experience only, one data point, so anyone else that had recent run-ins with DSOTM I'd also like to know as well!

As an aside, I kind of recommend you take the deployant version...that deployant did save the watch from more falls than I would like to admit, and for sure I did not want to find out what happens when you drop a ceramic watch firsthand..!!

Thanks for the reply. I do worry about the resale values of certain Omega models. Omega ceramic and titanium watches seem to have a retail cost that is out of step from their steel versions and tend to take a bath when selling them on again.
Perhaps something will come up in the sales.

A guy at work wanted one, I was helping him hunt . He eventually found one for less than 4k. I was shocked.

Exactly my reaction when people started offering me prices around 4k and I was told that I shouldn't be offended because apparently that's how much they trade for!!

That does sound like a lowball offer, £5ish sounds more appropriate to me.

Yeah, I did end up selling it around low/mid 5k later, because I thought, well....at 4k....I'd rather keep it. Definitely wasn't worth 4k to me!

I do like the watch very much. After I sold it I decided later that I'm going to revisit this watch when I have enough $$$ to just buy it and hold onto it, because it looks like keeping in mind of future resell of this watch turned out to be a bad idea.

Think the aspect which throws people off is the replacement cost of the ceramic case if it evers gets dented/damaged since it can't be polished.

It is funny, a few anecdotes on the internet and the price plunges.

Where are all these dirt cheap DSOTM?

Watch Recon doesn't show one under $6600

Lowest shown Sold listing on eBay is $6000

If i could get one for $4000 i would probably buy it today.

Well when I was selling, I got all sorts of messages from people claiming apparently they trade around 4-5k, I assume one would do the same. Probably I would do the same when I try to buy one again later.

Also it's worth keeping in mind that WR doesn't keep records from way back, only up to a certain point in time. So my listing, which went down up to 6k, won't show, and also that one sad DSOTM with chipped lug I saw also won't show.

I mean just because people sent you low ball offers doesn't mean a watch is trading at that price regardless of what they say.

Also a chipped lug DSOTM has nothing to do with market prices of intact models.

I really would like to see where all these pieces are trading for $4000 because I am pretty sure they aren't. At least not with any regularity. I mean you can find a junkie who stole one from his brother and is selling it on Craigslist cheap but that doesn't mean it defines the market.

True, you're right. I guess in the beginning of the thread I was pretty sure I was a single data point, then oddboy also said his coworker sniped one for that much, so my opinions started to shift. We do need more data for sure to make more solid conclusions.

But it's not just the pre-owned sector where we are seeing high and low prices, new watches can be found on sale with £2000 saving off the rrp and other stores selling at full rrp.
