Don't now if this belongs here or it's ok to post in a Omegaforum? But this is a project i have been wanting to built ever since i saw a similar one on google . I am not sure if it was WUS i saw it first . That watch has a racing dial . And i am also like the new Omega dark side of the moon . But couldn't afford that .So this started as an old speedmaster case i bought from a fellow forum member . It has been to STS for refurbish and then to PVD . Now that it's back in black i am going to have it assemble by a watchmaker . First i was thinking of the racing dial but decided on the black .Just to be different .
The movement was at first a Lemania 1873 and that was sold when i found a Omega 1861 NOS movement for a good price . There is going to be a black leather strap with a pvd omega buckle on it .
Have some strange thing with the pushers ?One of them is longer than the other ? Can't figure that out ? Both are the same ? Shall test with a other screw . Crystal only put in place for photo . No O-ring in place yet .

    Fascinating!

Looking forward to see the end result! Are you fitting black hands as well?

Interesting. How strong the PVD coating hold in day to day wear and tear?
I've seen daily wearer Darth Vader which the coating is in poor condition......

Have no idea. But it should be very strong. The company that did this do a lot of pvd for other things. You could always do a new pvd when it looks to ugly.

The black hands with the white in the ends. The hands that are on the racing dial and the new speedmaster mark II.

Awesome. Since you choose black dial with black case, it is good idea to give a dash of red accent. Probably on the tip of second hand?

This is a bit of a long story......about 5 years ago I picked up a 125 (turns out the actual watch has been featured on speedy Tuesday!)
    65a1e944.JPG
but shortly afterwards I got hooked by Panerai. The integrated case/bracelet eventually beat all my attempts to fabricate a strap the worked so when (very shortly after purchase:cautious:) the watch needed service, the watchmaker I use said "we can try something" since the 125 has a modular movement holder that plugs into the case itself (so does the speedy 4.5 --- another project)
    IMG_0103.JPG
the chunk of steel on the left is the original case block, the others are what was fabricated.

Another look, and now I can put on straps!

Unfortunately this version was too chunky (this is the watchmakers 7" wrist)

so back to the drawing board...literally.....this done by an engineer I know who also makes watches on the side Omega2-1.jpg

So now I have the original case/bracelet, and these guys fit a B&R strap shape (frog on the left, toad on the right)

The black one I posted above was ion plated a couple of months ago, I am doing some "field testing" for my buddy to see how well it holds up to see if his next run of cases will be polished or black.

Looking really cool .What a nice project . The first one you did looks a little to big for my taste . The last one looks perfect . Nice to be able to change back to the original case if you like .. It's almost like the Sinn watches that has the movement and dial like that .

thanks, it's a one minute change from polished SS case on strap to black plated case to OEM brushed ss case and bracelet. All with an Omega chronometer inside:)

Case reminds me of the Heuer 510.511 with the PVD- crazy what a change in finish can do to the look of a watch.

    Sub'd
