Was a bit bored on my flight to Geneva, so I made a meeting with the devil. Metal clasps don’t mix well with watches.
Nice watch! I'm sure the other people on the plane were wondering what you were taking pictures of in the bathroom
LOL! Entertaining topic. Never realised the danger was so real during flights. And you didn't take the magnetising effects of some surrounding equipment into account? Love how the Flightmaster color scheme matches the seat and safety instructions in the background.
I am still trying to figure out what the real danger is (and that's the beauty of the post - it captures your imagination) and why is it close... So far, my thougths are: - taking only 1-2 out of xxx watches due to space restrictions? - flying to Geneva, so will be exposed to thousands Swiss watch stores/temptation to buy? - vintage watches usually not waterproof? - magnetism? - I am sure I am missing something important, being a junior member.
Danger in Walmart. I bumped wrist to wrist with a clerk in Walmart while I was wearing a quartz Seamaster (wavy blue dial, large head). Heard a tick but did not think of it till he was the clerk checking me out and I noticed a watch on his wrist (danger!) and looked at mine. My insert was missing. I went back to hardware and nicely sitting on the floor was the foil thin bezel insert to my watch not damaged. Whew. Door frames of all kinds scare me You have super nice watches btw!!!
Aluminium toilet door handle...……..bad memories and the bezel was the hardest part to get polished out.....the one downer with the 2254. I spent more than a penny that day :0(…… Makes DSOTM look cost effective.
And I caught the Sapphire crystal as well......aircraft furniture bites. Love the Seamaster 300 / cracking watch.
Like I said amazing vintage pieces but I am going over to the dark side.... scratch free travel for me from now on...… As an aside I do find wearing a nice watch keeps your hands safe. I think twice before diving into anything dangerous :0)
