knew I shouldn't take it off to wash my hands. Dropped onto tiled floor Sapphire crystal shattered Aventurine dial shattered Hands hanging off.
Tile bathrooms scare the piss out of me. I was winding my Speedy the other day in a tile bathroom and thought to myself "bad idea." Put it in my pocket and walked out. Sorry bro. Get it fixed it'll be as good as new.
Ouch! Sorry to see that! That will be a costly repair to say the least. Last year Omega restricted sales of parts for these, so they all must go back to them for service.
Son of a.....! Good thing it wasn't a DSOTM.. I certainly hope no one "likes" that pic. My daughter grabbed my GMT that was on the kitchen counter and immediately dropped it on the tile floor. The crown took the entire blow... Other than a nice flat spot. Came away unscathed.
Ouch. Even I won't do that - but your post did make me think about it for a second because it's a Speedmaster and I'm me.
That's a pity, that thing is a beauty. But at least I'm sure it can be brought back to new, still going to be bad for the wallet. The DSOTM is not as droppable, I would say. The foldover clasp makes it easy to put on/take off and it also makes it easier to hold while cleaning and so on (I just hold it like a mug's handle or something) It is curious how sometimes we remove out watches to protect them of some activity and then the removal ends up being the problem. I was thinking that the other day when taking it off and left it on top of a piece of furniture where someone could accidentally just brush it to the floor. It's good to pick a spot where it is safe to leave them and get used to that, plus makes it easier in those "Hmm, now where did I leave it..." moments. All the luck OP, let us know how repair goes.
