The culprit. . The result. . My brand new Omega Speedmaster manual. Bugger. Will I be able to get a replacement? Wonder at what cost?
Might be moving a red box with all on soon from my Speedy as i wont be selling. Getting too many boxes so will keep you in mind if i do.
never seen one of those (the fishmoth, not the manual). What part of the world do they live in? They eat manuals? EDIT: never mind, it's a silverfish. garage is full of them - they just look a little different.
From wiki, they eat: These include book bindings, carpet, clothing, coffee, dandruff, glue, hair, some paints, paper, photos, plaster, and sugar. Silverfish can also cause damage to tapestries. Other substances they may eat include cotton, dead insects, linen, silk, or even its own exuvia (moulted exoskeleton).
Lepisma saccharina Are one of the oldest insects. Can be traced back to nearly 400 million years old. Can live 3 to 6 years.
If you go and ask a boutique nicely they might give you a replacement... they get those by the box load... and my OB's been very generous
3-6 years chomping away at something they see as carbs... I've always questioned the condition of some manuals and boxes people sell, I guess water damage and these buggers are to blame.
That silverfish is very erudite, it has the same taste as you, Omega. Historically there have been many insects known for their intelligence.
+1 My OB offered me a replacement red box when I asked them what kind of crappy materials they use to make them. Maybe silverfish have been nibbling on my red boxes....
