Hi All, I am new to the forums and the Omega watch world. It all started when I started searching the web for a vintage Omega watch. After scouring the web and auction site for several weeks, I took a chance to see if my Dad still had his Omega watch, and would part with it! He hadn't worn it for a number of years, at least 15, if not 20. Luckily, he had it in his dresser drawer and said I could have it but he knew it wasn't running and would need servicing (he now wears a Timex). He couldn't remember the year he got the watch but knew it was early/mid sixties. The serial number dates it to 1966 which seams about right. Search over..... well maybe. After extensively searching the web I couldn't find anything like it. At first, I thought it was some sort of Seamaster. But, I know that all Seamasters are marked on the dial and on the back. At least one place. His watch didn't have a Seamaster logo anywhere. Until I stumbled upon this site. I am glad that I did. After reading, the threads, it doesn't sound like these particular dials are too common, so I thought I would share for those interested. I have included before and after service photos. I am so glad that I had it serviced. It looks great. I had the horologist replace the crown with an Omega crown, not knowing if the the one on it was original. I did keep the crown that was on it just in case it original. Thanks for reading, Mac5
Good looking Speedmaster Companion. Good job on the restoration. Looks like ref# 135.011 same case that's used for the Seamaster 600. I love the simplicity of the dial. Third watch down is the same as yours. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/three-technical-dials-458106.html And this: http://www.killervintagewatches.com...with_Rare_Speedmaster-like_Dial_**SOLD**.html
Thanks kingsrider! Yes, it is the 135.011 calibre 601. I am excited to find others like it. I am also very pleased with the work the horologist did on the watch. He was very affordable too. Dad is happy! Best regards, Mac5
With no chronograph nor series markings, maybe that watch needs a nickname like "SlowMeister" or something.
I shouldn't show you this because I don't need another collector scouring for these, but this ref# 166.002 just came to me yesterday.
I'm amazed at how many incarnations there are for this dial. You just don't see them that often. Very nice find!
It has already happened. I am starting to cull the heard. Building a war chest. Who is that fine fellow and what happened to his arm?
He's an Admiral. Name of Nelson. But that's not important. When are you reducing the size of your navy?
While there are a number of similar designs. Only this model is consider "The" Companion model as it's the closest to the actual Speedmaster design DON
