Hi Guys, For reasons I won’t bore you with, I plunged on eBay and successfully bid for a Cyma automatic watch. It was advertised as either NOS or barely worn - which looks about right. I’ve researched the web but can’t see anything particularly similar. The case back seems unique, although signed, and bears what I think might be a 'world triad' or 'triple yin yang' logo. It is marked 'Cyma automatic watersport'. The case between the lugs is marked 40G on one side and 7.4611.68 on the other I’ll post photos; the vendors with the strap on, and mine without. Before you say so, I cannot open the back and don’t want to risk damaging what appears to be a pristine watch. I had though it might be a bumper but it doesn’t feel (or sound) like one. I very much like it and will wear it but I’d just like to know a little more about it and it’s likely age. So, many thanks in advance for any information
Likely '60s; the "Watersport" model line began much earlier. The case back is certainly uncommon, though equally certain not to be unique. You'll need to get the back open in order for anyone to provide insights into the caliber or more precise dating.
I agree with @Tony C. the design is 1960s. It doesn’t have any of the design features of the 1970s, e.g. thick squared hands, thick squared indexes in particular.
Thankyou all for the input. If you were put on the spot, might you hazard a guess on the automatic movement? It has quick date change (wind back and forth between 8pm-midnight) but the winder doesn’t wind (like a Seiko doesn’t) and, as I said above, doesn’t feel or sound like a bumper which, if it’s (mid to late 1960s) it probably wouldn’t be.
