Underrated brand, for sure. Many of their offerings from the '50s were of very good quality. The Watersport line was successful and long-standing.
What’s the opinion on the dial and movement Condition originality The price doesn’t bother me to much
Comparing the script on the two dials posted they look the same Am I right in thinking the domed winding crown Would date rhe watch to the late 1940s
Thanks for that Tony c. Waiting for some more info back from the seller If that pans out could be pulling the trigger on this one Really love the dial Also watch is a very good size for the period 36mm
Nice watch! I love this caliber. It is a little particular with its special bumper's spring, but I like it! The price seems very high though. The watch seems in fait condition, and the movement looks very nice, but Cymas usually do not command this kind of price, even the watersport bumpers. I would try to negociate.
The watch does come with it’s original box Which gives it added interest What sort of figure seems right
OK, it gives indeed more interest to the watch. Concerning Cymas' prices, I have a particular idea. As this brand is undervalued, if I like a watch and if is uncommon or rare, I do not bother to pay more than the market. I would still have a very good watch for my money. But still, I think you would overpay too much here. With the original box, if the watch is working, I would go up to maybe 250, max 300 euros. You can find great Cymas bumper for much less.
I based my price assessment on the fact that I bought this in auction as NOS recently for £160, but I’ve not checked the movement because it runs so well.
Sorry: fair condition. In particular the case and the movement. I personally do not like scratches on a movement, and bumpers usually have some - probably because of people manipulating the automatic system. This one seems very nice.
I would add that parts are difficult to find for this caliber. So if you have a working movement in good condition, it is worth a premium. (Although, to really check the condition of a movement, you need to take it apart...).
Nice watch! I would say that the OP's watch is SS, which is often more collectible that gold plated. Yours is in excellent condition though. Moreover, the OP's watch is from the watersport line. I personally do not give a real importance to that, but many collectors do. And there is the original box - I would be happy to see it by the way! But I agree 600£ is way too expansive. I have bought nice solid gold Cymas for less - not bumpers but still.
As I understand the watch has just been fully serviced Which from the condition of the movement Looks correct to me
