I recently became interested in Cyma Tavannes. The quality of the movements and relative lack of demand make this manufacturer very attractive. The beautiful cases and dials don't hurt either. If anyone has information regarding serial numbers, it would be much appreciated. First a caliber 404 Next a caliber 032
Nice examples, and I agree with you about the brand being under-appreciated and valued. No dating tables available, I'm afraid. I own a number of Cyma, but only one Tavannes. The latter is in an 18k pink gold case...
Oh, my! Now I certainly understand why Cyma is one of your favorite brands, Bubba... ... such spectacular dials, and a beautiful collection!
Agreed, the Triplex's are amazing... I'll take 2nd 'Dibs' please!! Or, quite frankly, Dibs on any of the above that are over 33mm wide...
Really like this one with the triple stepped lug, so dibs on it but I have a suspicion @bubba48 is not selling ... Also dibs on the dual tone water sport with red seconds hand and square hands!
You are right. I took several years to gather these watches and I'm too fond of them. They aren't precious but are certainly a piece of watch history.
Here are a couple of mine I wish I still had - a 9 carat gold cased 1920s watch, and a 1950s Cyma Triplex:
Some of these are absolutely beautiful, those textured dials! I only have the one Cyma, but it isn't really as it's a Syncron imposter
Great thread! I could not agree more, Cymas are usually great watches at a nice price. Their movements could be as good as JLC's ones, with nice construction and no wire spring - not true of all Cymas movements. I like their dials as well, which are most often simple and elegant. The only thing I like less is the use of rodhium plated cases, which usually do not get old very nicely. Here are some of my Cymas: 9k solid gold, with a really nice movement - great finish, which I could not capture in the pic. Black gilted dial - sorry again for the not perfect pic... A simple Cyma with a classic movement. A nice - but small - 9k solid gold Cyma, with typical Cymas hands.
The last one: 18k solid gold case, great dial and caliber Cyma 458. Just serviced and already on my wrist!
