While Omega crystals are readily available, I wanted to pose the question of options for watches whose crystals are not readily available. Has anyone had success with custom 1:1 copies of acrylic crystals? If so, are there any vendors in the US that you can recommend?

My a3818 needs a new crystal, and sourcing a NOS OEM one may be rather daunting, so I am exploring all options. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, as I know you guys have plenty of opinions!

 

Is there a reason you feel it has to be custom made? Have you already eliminated a generic crystal that is already available?

What size and type of crystal is it?

I have not eliminated a generic crystal, and hope that I can find one. It is for a Zenith El Primero a3818, and based on others challenges locating crystals, I am thinking that custom is the only solution other than sending it back to Zenith.

 

What is the size and type?

 

Need to have my watchmaker remove it and measure it. Not sure about type, but I believe it is friction fit.
