I helped a buddy on mine get a Speedy Pro - bought from a member on here.

Great watch, and he's been loving it - he is a pilot and flies with the watch (although he doesn't actually use it to time anything).

I get a text from him today...he was walking down the street and the crystal just popped off...didn't knock it...nothing.

He flew today and it is hot here, but WTF? Any ideas here?

Did you guys perform a pressure test when you got the watch ? Seeing the T Swiss Made T infers that the watch could easily be 20 years old or even older.

    Still very surprising....

Knowing you guys, that's probably the original crystal and has a weak tension ring.

True...and while I have a receipt from service...who knows how well the watchmaker was.

Going to get a local guy to see if it will seat and pressure test.

    Say what?

He’s a pilot and flies with it and doesn’t actually use it to time anything? ::confused2::

    That’s totally ridiculous.

He should be using it to time [and compare] the service at airport Starbucks compared to the service at airport Dunkin’s where just plain old coffee is desired...what I’m saying is...due to all those ridiculous happy-frappy drinks [that take years to make] that are ordered by ridiculous happy-frappy people at Starbucks, the service takes waaaaaaaaay longer. :D

Easy fix. One bump in the past can affect the seating of the crystal...... kind regards. Achim

Looking at the pics in the OP, I noticed the helium escape valve is missing. No wonder the freaking crystal blew off -- too much internal pressure! Have the watchmaker retrofit an escape valve when he resets the crystal.

Ugh oh, a lawyer who’s a pilot. I can see the headlines now. “Lawyer files class action against Omega. Cites danger of popping crystal to the flying public. You could put an eye out with that thing!” ::bleh::

    Wrong!

Speedmasters are not filled with helium, that's only for Seamasters.
Originally designed for the motoring fraternity, the Speedmaster uses Nitrogen as an internal inert stabilising gas.

I read the titanium Seamasters are filled with hydrogen to help lower the weight just a bit more. You just never want to use the escape valve near an open flame.

That’s only an issue with the Seamaster Hindenburg LE.
