Guys, I just got the watch serviced and with a new crystal. It looks very ‘tall’. Is it normal? Thank you so much!

My watchmaker said the crystal is listed by omega for the case number. And diameter seems right. Not sure how it shows like this.

that crystal base or lower part has extra allowance. therefore has to be shaped or reduced to fit.

Oh really? I always thought as long as if the right one, it should just fit on as is. Is it easy to ‘reduce’ it?

it is an extra allowance so you can adjust the height to fit. or, it may not be the real corresponding part. your watchmaker will sure have a solution for that.

Or it's simply the wrong crystal for that case.

I've never come across an OEM Omega crystal that needs to be "reduced" when the correct crystal is selected for the particular case.

or, it could be good aftermarket repro but cheaper and needs adjustment. i agree it's impossible not to fit if it is original.

It's an Omega crystal. Simply the wrong one.

Crystals are not fitted this way if you have the right one...

Al, thank you! I did some digging. I saw 063PZ5005 and 063PZ5015. What does the difference in the last two digits mean?

It means the difference between an incorrect and correct fit.
