    Hi all,

I just noticed that my speedy's crown quite suddenly started recoiling when winding it. It's not fully wound, so it's not that. Can someone please explain to me, in layman's terms, why this is happening and if it's natural/OK? Is this something that goes away? Please help a new speedy owner!

    Uploaded a quick video here:

    Thanks so much!

It's normal. From personal experience, newer or just-serviced watches exhibit this behavior. Don't know the mechanical details behind this, but if I had to guess, I would say a new mainspring that has more torque pushing back than a worn-in one.

The main spring click takes a bit of backwards movement to engage. (It rides up a tooth, falls into the valley, rides up the next tooth, etc.. Unless you stop winding exactly at the bottom of the valley, it will need to slide down the back of a tooth a bit before resting against the steep dropoff that it fell off last.)
