I think the real crime here is that the son unit was not reprimanded for wearing inappropriate footwear to Metallica concert-

If you have a nice Mido case and ratty dial- please give this thing a proper home again.
Just so happens, I just purchased a Mido.

I think the case is a bit too small for that movement. But I’ll take the boxes!

Thanks,
gatorcpa

PS - 10,000 posts! I would never have believed it back in 2013 when Omega Forums started.

I hit 100 today...you have 100X...and that's why I pay attention when I see your posts! Thanks for the education, it is much appreciated!

Puppies, too cute. Dad unit taking progeny to Metallica concert, bad-ass! Scrapping a vintage machine for $, disappointing...which reminds me of when I was a kid...if either parent had said they were mad at me, meh, they'll get over it...but if they said they were disappointed...that cut to the bone, and a bit of the soul!

EDIT: 'Progeny', not prodigies...dyslexia is a b**ch...then again, maybe they are prodigies!

Not me, a friend. I like the look of the effect, but at some point I can imagine this will be a pain (I’m thinking next battery change).

What am I talking about? Well, it’s oil filled 😁 One has about 179 degree view angle of the dial...it’s super legible. Didn’t come that way from the factory. I suggested he do the same with his X33 (gen2) ... and boy did that plant a seed! I can imagine it will look great...

Never saw any bitching when a ladies watch is scrapped.
Q: How much is my solid gold Omega Ladymatic worth?
A: Scrap + $20 for the movement.
Exactly. Someone's treasure is another's trash. The scrapper only sees the gold in an old watch just like collectors here only see the value of gold in a ladies watch yet it could be treasure for someone else.

Depends on the scrapper and locale. Most scrappers in the tri-state area have a very good idea of value on practically anything brought in to their shop and would not chop up anything they can wholesale. Many vintage watch dealers regularly buy watches from Manhattan scrappers.

Ok, here is another crime (not that this watch wasn’t askin’ for it) but the Flexi bracelet with spring loaded endlinks- got this in a watch lot (this wasn’t the one I wanted). The dangers of these bracelets have been illustrated before- this is another cautionary tale as to why you should take that watch off grandpa’s flex bracelet.

I will note, this is not the same type of tension as used on the current Forstner Komfiit enlinks- those have barely any tension on them, just enough to keep the covers in place. The springs on this are so tight I can barely move them in.

Anyone want an Accutron for parts?

At least you liked the other watch in that haul. Paging @Canuck for the Accutron parts

Could be interested mate.
Does it work? Only I have an Accutron Woody with a duff movement, and would like to do it myself.

Bob.

I posted this in the longines section as well but I thought this is the ultimate crime against a once nice sort after longines deluxe.

Saw this for sale in amongst a watch lot. When I asked what happened to the case he said he melted it for the gold. My heart shattered when I heard this...given how specific the case reference is for the deluxe dial, it will probably never be united with the right case and is destined to end up as a franken

This is getting painful. Saw a few vintage JLC dial/movement in the bay this week....we can assume what happened to those.
