<edit> This thread has been developing exponentially to document as many variations on the Orfina 7750. Appartently this watch design has been licensed or otherwise released by a ton of brands few people have ever heard of. I couldn't find much on the fora documenting these, so I thought I'd dedicate a thread to it here. </edit> Just stumbled across this weird specimen. It looks like it has the dial, case, hands, and movement of an Orfina 7750 Porsche Design and a tachymeter scale on the rehaut similar to the Heuer Ref 12. I've tried to do some research on Cresy as a brand, but have come up with nothing. Has anyone here heard of Cresy, and its provenance?
I believe I’ve seen a few versions of this watch, I guess they were ordered with different branding. I’m sure I’ve seen a LeJour.
The 7750, or its clones has probably been put in more brands of watch than almost any other movement. I've always been a sucker for them.
The list goes on: Tourneau and D&W (Danny & William? Don & Wally? Dirk & Winston?) Imma change the subject on this thread, to document Orfina 7750 varieties. So keep 'em coming!
Well spotted. Indeed, The Tourneau would not qualify as it's outfitted with a lemania 5100. For the longest time I didn't realise that the Orfina "Porsche Design" was equipped with a Valjoux 7750 while the Orfina "Military" had a Lemania 5100 under the hood...
Most of these have cheap cases, a step or two down from an Orfina or Sinn 144. The Tachy scale is actually part of the case (not a separate rehaut) and the scale is directly printed on the metal . I've seen a few, including some example for the French military. A black example I had:
