We're on a camping trip with a bunch of friends. One fellow I knew to be wearing an Invicta two-tone model that has the appearance of a diver's watch. I've known him to have owned this watch for several years. On this trip, I noticed the face appeared to be fogged over, and I commented on it. He'd been cleaning the bracelet, and water droplets appeared during the process. I deployed my trusty Swiss Army knife and took the back off to reveal a Shiojiri PC22 movement in it! I removed the movement from the case, and thankfully, the water had not reached the dial. Dried it out and put it back together with some Vaseline applied to case tube and gasket, and put it back together.

I comment on this, because it is really a good looking watch! The Shiojiri PC22 movement as a replacement, runs about $5.00 from many watch material suppliers! Naturally, he bought this piece of carp (sic) off the 'net. He added that where else could you buy a $200.00 watch for $100.00!

Invicta watches are held in much disdain on this MB, and it's examples like this that are the cause of such disdain among most watch collectors!

Vaseline (petroleum jelly) and Buna-N (nitrile) gaskets don't mix well!

Will need new gaskets in short order...

Invicta watches are just pretty. There are some that are supposed to be "swiss made". I believe they are called Invicta Reserve. Other than those, I do think they are just heavy fashion watches. I looked into them when I first was looking for modern SWISS MADE watches. Some nce looking watches, but mostly blocks of steel only.

Actually, I suspect the lubricant (provided by the watch owner) was "mystery" lubricant (I won't go any further into the possible type), as it was not the colour of Vaseline! :D What he needs is a new watch! But it was looking perky 12 hours after my "field" repair. Had something not been done immediately, to get the water out, he WOULD be needing not just gaskets and crown, but a whole new watch. As it is, the dial and hands were untouched.

I know, I know! I've thrown away better watches than his Invicta! Put it down to fixing, not a watch (which an Invicta patently isn't), but to fixing sentiment! He likes the watch! I've instructed him to never buy another Invicta! Celebtrity is a brand name around here, and these are merchandised on racks in department stores. They are priced usually under $50.00. He coulda had a PC22 in one of those for a lot less money!

The watch owner made a video of me fixing his Invicta! Then showed it to the rest of the campers. Might be good for business...........hopefully NOT Invictas!

Would you not help a friend, if you were able?

If you ever to as low as 300 meters, and are fortunate enough to to survive the re-surfacing, be sure to let us know! ;)

Oh it's not diving that it's meant for...... It's for use as an anchor in about 300m of water.

A water proof anchor wIth Quartz accuracy...... If Ulackfocus has a boat we may have found a quartz Invicta he'd actually enjoy.

Or if not a boat perhaps a .303 with a scope

Excellent new Invicta sales pitch. "Invicta...we're good for shooting practice!"

Absolutely and of course! My comment was in no way meant to be negative.

Dive weights are to be carried around the waist, not on the wrist.
