Hi

I'm looking for a correct stem for my 1967 165.024 552 (24 mill) with a non screw down crown

There seems to be a choice, I think the first one pictured is correct, but will the second one work (as it ships quicker)

1106-401 for 550 551 or 552

Or 401 for 550 (Known Compatible Calibres 550/551/552/560/561/562)

I believe the correct part is a 72205501106. And if I remember correctly, you cannot use a stem for a 563, although I'm no watchmaker. Hang tight! I'm sure the elders will chime in to offer their wisdom.

72205501106 is correct for Cal. 550 to 562. Cal. 563 to 565 requires a 72205631106. Sometimes they offered different lengths for these stems and you may see different parts number used because of that, but the 72205501106 will work for the watch in question.

The stem with the beak is for front loading cases - it's the movement half of a split stem. The movement part is the male end:

The crown part is the female end:

They snap together to allow the crown to come off so the movement can be removed through the front of the case.

Cheers, Al

Hi, sorry for digging out this old topic, but I need advice in the 550x563 stems. What is the difference between those two stems I should look for/measure??
I have mixed up by accident my batch of stems for those calibers. Can you just by seeing the picture guess, which is 550 and which 563?
I had I think the upper one in the cal561 tray (550.1106) and the lower stem in cal565 (563.1106), but I`m not sure... big thanx.

The stem with the longer pilot diameter is the 563 - so the lower one in your photo.
