    Hello

I had promised myself I wouldn't buy any more watches for a while, but a really nice Seamaster popped up on eBay and I managed to get it for a reasonable price.

Looks to be all original and correct, apart from the horrid gold crown.

Am I right in thinking that the correct crown for it would be the 'clover' crown with part number 42023ST? Would it be sensible to also purchase a replacement stem at the same time? Would be really grateful if an expert here could confirm.

    Thanks

Yes, on the stem question. The one fitted may be corroded or possibly cut to short for your new crown to fit.

    Hello again

Good news! I've had a replacement crown and stem fitted and it looks great.

The only issue is that it's now really tight to wind. It's possible to set the time just fine, but winding takes an inordinate amount of force for not much action. Is this normal for this movement, or does my watchmaker need to make some adjustments to the crown?

    Thanks

If it wound OK previously, it should loosen up with time, the seal inside the crown is still fresh.
