Correct Bracelets for a 1969 Speedmaster 145.022 Straight Writing?

Good day all. May I ask our vintage Speedmaster experts what the correct bracelets would be for a 145.022-69-SW? Looking at the vintage Speedmaster bracelet chart, the choices would appear to be a 1039/516 (I'm not a fan of the flimsy construction or the current asking prices), an 1116/575, an 1171/633, and perhaps my personal favorite, an 1175/640. Is there a "best" or "most correct" bracelet/end link combination for this reference? I'd like to make an upcoming acquisition as original as possible. Also, can someone tell me whether an 1171 with 676 end links would work and be correct and what the difference is between the usual 633 end links and the 676 end links? Thanks!

I wouldn't hesitate to use a 1175/640 with a SW Speedy.

Thanks, Dan. I have one on my 1971 Speedy and love it. Wish they were a bit easier to find at a reasonable price, but still a bargain and better build quality compared to a 1039/516.

I once had a Straight Writing bought from the original owner which came with the remnants of an 1175/640 and came with the watch from new.

Ok, I'd be fine with an 1175/640. ANYBODY HAVE ONE FOR SALE THAT WILL FIT A 7.5 INCH WRIST? :):):)

By far the most comfortable for me is the 1175. Really wished I had kept the two I sold ::censored::

Haha, you just talked me out of selling one. ;) Frankly, I usually regret selling bracelets. When I do, I typically end up buying another one at a later date at a higher price.

Glad your keeping it. Use to be had for a couple hundred, those days are long gone unfortunately.

I found one last year in near mint condition with the end links from a seller in England for $550 USD. Not a couple hundred to be sure, but one heck of a lot cheaper than a 1039/516 and most of those are in dreadful shape.

It's true that you often need to be prepared for some restoration on a 1039.

That was one hell of a deal.

Which one is more comfortable? 1175 or 1116?
(I have a 1116, I like its look, but I wonder about the 1175 I never had in my hands...)

Mine came with a 1039/516. The bracelet was actually nicer than the watch was.

I have not worn an 1116, but I have an 1175 on my 1971 Speedmaster and it is a very comfortable flat link bracelet with excellent build quality. Definitely the most comfortable Omega bracelet that I have tried with the exception of the vintage beads of rice bracelets and their modern equivalent, the 3010, none of which are really hefty enough in my opinion for a Speedmaster and wouldn't fit anyway. .

I'll let you know by pm., if and when I find mine. It let go on me a few times, and my speedy has lost any sentimental value, so I will dispose of it in bits, unless I throw it off a cliff into the sea first.

Care to share? sounds like you're dying to share something + extra hostility from other threads. Free therapy, no judgement.

After getting a new watch it dawned on me that all it has ever done is hitch a ride, let me down, and cost me money.

Start a new thread, spill your issues. Lots of us are going thru all kinds of difficulties, everyday. You’ll get tons of responds there.

Marital difficulties (I’m reading between the lines here) are universally challenging. Asians, Europeans, Australians…different languages fighting for the few same principles.

Start a thread and remove some weights. Or don’t. Entirely up to you.

Hope you work it out.
