    Hi there,

I have a simple question to which I believe I already have an answer, but just wanted to be sure and get this confirmed by experts. Is the correct bracelet for a 168.005 Constellation the 1503? According to an 1967 catalogue it is:

    http://www.old-omegas.com/pics/cat67en/p40.jpg

But I assume the 168.005 were also sold with the 1502 bracelet and that there is no right or wrong here. But what was the usual bracelet that went with a Constellation?

And while I am asking, is the crystal with magnifying glass correct for the 168.005 (or in other words, were both versions with and without cyclops sold)?

    Thanks,
    Roger

All bracelets in respect to 005s were after-market, with some exceptions on 18k which sometimes were accessorised with Milanese 18k bracelets. The most common bracelet seen with a 168.005 is probably the 1502, but other 18mm bracelets were also fitted at time of sale.

Generally, I don't see many original 168.005s with cyclops, but you never say never with Omegas from this period. It is probably more common to see a 168.025 with a cyclops than the 005. I think the 005 looks better without magnification, but I suppose that's a matter of taste.

    Cheers

    Hello Desmond,

Many thanks for your reply to my questions. I have recently bought a 168.005 that came with a 1502 and had a crystal with cyclops, but I don't know if these were added after the watch was originally bought. The watch is currently on its way to me. Depending on the condition of the crystal (looked good on the picture, but there may be scratches that cannot be polished out), I may replace it with a spare one without cyclops (063PZ5016?), but would leave the bracelet as it is.

    Cheers,

    Roger
