Hello, I have a question, a copy of the appraisal and certificate has some added value when selling, or is it not even worth mentioning ?

The Certificate of Origin can add a bit of value, but the Insurance Valuation showing the Replacement Value doesn't mean anything, it's a 27 year old value. Nice watch.

Thanks for the reply. The valuation for me means nothing, but at the valuation it says that it is original and in good condition, and this is already an added value. If a copy of the certificate can also be recognized then I can already respond to those interested that I have it. I mentioned in the ad, but did not add a photo, and I have questions in this regard

Assuming that the documents are legit, I think that the historical information and authentication has some value. I am not familiar enough with VC to know if those documents are authentic. Obviously, the way they are stapled together does not inspire confidence, but maybe that's how VC did things in the 90s.

I have a similar opinion on this subject, which is why I didn't dare to put a photo of the certificate copy in the ad on Chrono24, but I mentioned it in the description. Now I have inquiries whether I can send photos of the certificate copy, and I don't know whether I won't be ridiculed by those who have an idea about it. Maybe someone else will write something ?

I expect that the document is original, though I rather doubt that V&C would still produce such valuations. In any case, I don't think that it would add anything to a sale, as there are too many associated variables, particularly after a ~25 year period, e.g. market and currency fluctuations, condition changes, etc.

This price is not important, it is more about the certificate. If there is someone who finds that such VC exhibited, I can safely send a photo to an interested buyer and send back to this forum if necessary. It is like an insurance against compromising.

Ah, well in that case, I would be shocked if it were not authentic. The more recent valuation show the same serial numbers as the earlier certificate, and the only incentive that I can imagine for the latter having been forged, would have been if the case and movement didn't match.

In my collecting world I have met with different people, some even if they did not have to, they combined something thinking that it would be more reliable. I bought this watch at auction together with these papers and a catalog I think from 1996 just like the papers. The catalog is original, not a copy

Sorry, I did not notice that the certificate booklet has the same date. I still see no evidence to suggest that they are other than original. And it should very easy to confirm, by simply asking V&C to confirm that a watch with those serial numbers was serviced by them in Geneva in 1996.

Again, there really wouldn't be any incentive to forge such documents unless the numbers didn't match.

There is no mention in these papers of servicing only valuation, confirmation of condition, certificate. I know that there is no indication that the watch is not original, but these copies of the papers may not be original. At the time I bought the watch I had as a reference an earlier sold copy of the same watch in NOS condition.

Colleagues have given me the idea of contacting the person whose address is on the copy of the appraisal (I covered it up), but I'm unlikely to do that, because it's not clear if he's the one who donated the watch to the auction.

That's right, you can read it between the lines as a service review .

I would email their store in Geneva, with the image of the valuation, and ask them to confirm that the watch was indeed serviced at that time.

Thanks, that's a good idea !!! The most important thing for me is that the photos of the certificate and the valuation have not made anyone think so far that they can look fraudulent. That's what I wanted the most, to know how other collectors will react

I also think that if you are candid and honest about the source of the documentation, buyers will be understanding.

Thanks for your contribution to the discussion. There is an authentic address and name of the ordering party on the copy of the quote document, but I wanted to see how you guys would react to the copy as I have never dealt with something like this.
