Convinced USPS delivers slower the more you check tracking

ZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzz

How can a package traveling via an "Express" service that's meant to take 5 days get to JFK airport and sit for 4 days doing nothing according to tracking.

What happened to the high regard Americans held the USPS in years ago, I know a lot considered it one of the best mail services in the world. Lately I've had packages sit in Chicago for over a month doing nothing...

By contrast the Royal mail seems to be flowing excellently, her Majesty seems to know how to get things done!

Sometimes the status doesn't get updated for days. Once in a while a package comes to the door before the tracking site says "out for delivery".

Speaking for myself who receives and sends over 100 watch related packages via USPS a year I have noticed a significant decline in service level over the past 2 years or so not coincidentally is when USPS started to run into financial difficulties and consequently started cutting positions. I also know several people who work for USPS and their morale is down and agree that the service level has definitely declined. For overseas transactions, I have always insisted on FedEx for high value packages - the extra cost is worth the reduced transit time not to mention the up to date tracking information.

That's five times the info I've ever gotten when tracking on USPS.
We have a great postal carrier, and he really dislikes many of his fellow carriers because of their crappy attitudes. He says it's more attitude than moral, they have it pretty easy, really, compared to others, according to him.

USPS Priority hasn't suffered in my own experience. First and Third Class, Parcel Post have always been slow. Do make sure you're using Priority.

I've had some nasty experiences with Priority over the past couple of years, but it's tough to blame solely USPS since Auspost was involved too. Have huge boat parts returned to sender without explanation is never fun.

One word for international: FedEx

Totally with you on that, I wouldn't consider anything else.

You still can't beat Priority Mail for US addresses, with insurance AND Signature Confirmation.
