    Hi
I have a 168.004 cal 561 which, until now, was running very accurately. Two days ago I dropped it onto a deep pile rug. It kept going but has since run 45 minutes fast in 24 hours. Can anyone suggest what may have happened here?
    Thanks
    Steve

A number of things a watchmaker will have to look at.

There is a post from several months ago but you may have to search a bit.

More than likely the hairspring has gotten tangled up and it's length has effectively been shortened and because of this it's running fast.

One possible fix, is to let the watch run down fully, then give it a gentle tap on the face to see if this helps dislodge the hairspring. With it running, it tends to stay tangled up, if run down it may go back to it's normal shape and be accurate once again.
