    Hi All,

Time to play that game again of "is this a redial?"

I've asked the seller for better photos of the dial and only got worse photos and them saying this is the best they can do on their iPhone.

I think it's the real deal but the photos are so bad hoping to get a second opinion.

Looks good, but it may be worth to continue asking for better pics.

It seems suspicious to me that the seller won't provide you of better pictures.
It's hard to tell wether it's a redial or not with such poor quality pictures, try asking again for better pictures, especially one without the crystal and other of the back side of the dial.

If I ever had a request like that, I'd file the buyer under "nutjob" and stop replying.

    Dial looks good, btw.

Trust me, I've seen some redials that are almost impossible to discern from the real ones unless you check them thoroughly.

That still doesn't make it a reasonable request. I have yet to see a Constellation redial that was only discernable from the rear of the dial, but perhaps you'd like to share your findings? Or perhaps tell us what about this dial makes you believe it could be a redial that would require us seeing the rear of the dial?

Thanks everyone for your input. I agree the dial look original and your feedback confirms my suspicions. Now to try and work out a fair price

From the first pic the dial looks good
Bit of a ding on the bezel between 7 and 8 so factor that into your bargaining

The dial is good. The case is a good bit worn. A lot depends on price. Proper replacement cases are not that hard to find.

What reason would a seller have to send such horrible photos of something he's trying to get top dollar for?

I can only come to two conclusions :

He's too old to understand the mechanics around photographing properly.

    or

He's hiding something that is going to end up being painfully obvious when the piece is in your hands.

I've been burned by this "I don't understand camera".... and had to eat the loss because their are people who understand the dispute process as well as you understand the watch!

Just some words of caution, would hate to see anything negative happen to a fellow member!

Let us know what comes of this! Interested to know!

    Best,

    Thomas

Sellers best price is $1500. I think it's a bit steep due to the case condition issues, but I do really like the black dial and arrow head markers...

Not completely unreasonable. There will be a taker for it at that price, IMO.

Does the black dial fetch a premium? Also, how does the polished case come into play with the pricing? What are these generally purchased at?

    Here to learn!

The black dial is a huge premium.. And the polished case is a huge deduction, at $1500 it seems reasonable if the case is solid 14k like it looks. If it's just plated gold, then I think it's a little over priced.

From what I have been seeing lately, $1500 is not way out - and trying to find an original black dial has become quite difficult (been trying hard myself :( )

Given the bezel condition and the questions on the dial I think it's way overpriced unless it is solid gold.

The question is do you want to spend the money knowing you'll need to chase down a replacement bezel or case?

No need to discuss the seller's intention, if the dial can be assessed by these pics, however mediocre. Inside pics would be great too. (not from the backside of the dial...:whistling:)
In the end it always is an estimated gamble.....

No, the dial looks good to me (although it's hard to appreciate it from such terrible pictures) but I still think it's strange the the seller won't provide of better pictures, this isn't 2005, even the cheapest phones in the market have cameras capable of producing pictures with much better definition that the ones that he send.
As to the redial subject unfortunately I don't have pictures (I'll try to post them in the forum the next time I see one) but I'm talking about my experience while dealing with clients that have brought to me old omega watches bought from shady dealers.
You can't never be too careful in the world of vintage watches :)
