Well, the seller says that this is an Constellation Pie Pan with:

- Cal 564
- Ref 14393 61 SC
- Original Crown
- Original watchband
- Restored Dial.

What do you guys think? Worth the buy/is it legit?
And what would be the exact year of the launch of the watch?

Not with the the redone dial unless you are planning to source a replacement dial. Of course price is is a factor.

24 mil dates the watch 1966/67

Case is too much polished, minute hand is too long for the redisigned/ repainted dail

I wouldn't buy this watch

Like this nice example recently sold

Watch can't be both redialed and legit.

Pick one.

Personally, I insist on unrestored dials.

Move on. The repainted dial significantly devalues the watch and the case is polished. There are better examples out there. Hang around for awhile on OF and learn what to look for. Knowledge and patience are your best friends when it comes to buying vintage watches. It was a smart move on your part to ask for opinions from OF members before buying. Well done.

Hi,

the ref 14393 does not fit with dogleg lugs… so at least case back is not original for this case.

+ lugs beeing that soft, redial, it is definitely a no go to me

I'll add to the above... "Forrest..." 😀
Not sure what you mean with your "legit" question though. The seller is mentioning a restored dial

At least the seller disclosed that it’s a redial. Not a watch that I would buy, but at least some honesty in the listing is refreshing.

Hello @liprlz

I think the guys were so taken aback at the condition of the dial and lugs that it took until the 5th poster to point out that the watch isn’t even what it is listed as.
This is quite a poor specimen all round.

Constellation pie-pans are no longer beer money, so if you are interested in pie-pans and Constellations in general, if you haven’t already done so, it might be worth doing a deep-dive into Desmond’s excellent site which might help you spot the major issues with watches like this one.

Out of interest, what was the seller asking for this watch?

Guys, I was off the computer for a while. Sorry for the delay,

Thank you very much for all the answers, based on them I decided not to proceed with the purchase of the watch.
I also appreciate the community members' commitment to providing me with study material, in addition to valuable tips.

@Peemacgee the owner is asking for R$ 7.000, which is equivalent to U$ 1300.

Such ambitious pricing. The watch is probably worth less than half that.

Apart from a very modest value as parts, it is pretty much worthless as a collector's item. Even the end links are incorrect!
