    Hi,

I’ve been having a look through the message boards and have noticed a few threads about watches which people have inherited and would like some more info on. I’m in the same situation.

Can anyone share some more details on the attached? I can’t find an example anywhere online of a watch which has the same combination of features (minute &hour hands, 3,6,9,12 numbering). So not sure if it’s a fake or perhaps some parts have been replaced. Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi,
    the 3 6 9 12 numbering is legit
Picture is bad but i think it could be a redial
Looks quite polished (only 3 stars left on the back)
    Crown is replacement
    Better pictures available?
    How about a movement shot?

Edit: Sorry forgot the most important: Welcome here on Omega Forums! :)

Hi - thanks for your welcome.

    Some more pictures below.

The original owner spent more of his life in Zimbabwe, so presume it was originally bought there. Or perhaps in South Africa. I guess taking it to a decent watch shop will help understand more about it's origins.

Those close up pictures really show up the scratches. Is this something a watch shop/jewellers will be able to polish out do you think?

With this close up I rather think the dial is in original condition.

Should be from the 50iesor or early 60ies (edited)

You own the watch and you want to wear it?

If yes let the crystal be changed, let the watchmaker get you an Omega crown and let the movement be servied.

That is all I would do, the rest of the watch is what it is, a living piece of history

    Welcome @lakrisaltw
    What @Passover said.
The crystal is incorrect and the (incorrect) retaining ring is tucked under the indices and obscuring the ‘Swiss made’.
The Lume has been removed from the indices as it was likely radium.
Have a competent watch make carefully remove the crystal and retaining ring.
Tell us where you are and you should get recommendations for a watchmaker.
There are a number of similar references in this period - the info you require will be on the movement and caseback.

Thank both - some really interesting info.

Yes, I own it and would like to wear it, so plan on taking it to a watchmakers for a service. If anyone has any recommendations of watchmakers in Liverpool that would be great. If nothing suitable in Liverpool, I travel to Manchester and Birmingham regularly so any recommendations for there would be be useful too.
Edit: I'm based in the UK

Nice pickup, underneath that scratched plexi appears to be a nice dial :)
