Constellation f300Hz

Hi All,

I have had a Constellation f300Hz for over 20 years now. Other changing the battery it hasn't been serviced in any way while I have owned it.

Right now it runs about 8 to 9 seconds fast per day. Is it due for a service or is that good enough for a watch of this age?

If it should should be serviced please make some recommendation in the United States and maybe a basic idea of cost.

I would get it serviced if it has been that long. A dried-up friction wheel can eventually result in a damaged index wheel on these movements, but in general, it would make sense to get any mechanical (semi-mechanical in this case) watch serviced after 7-10 years anyway.

I don' t know of a place in the U.S., but Rob at accutronwatchpage in Thailand services tuning fork watches from all around the world. He currently charges $140 + parts + shipping according to his website:

For completeness, it can be noted that Omega still services those watches. I believe the cost for a caliber 1250 is $1000 (USD) plus parts cost, and the quoted turnaround time is 1 year. There are clearly advantages to a local watchmaker if one can be found.

It certainly is worth to have your watch serviced .. I have utilized the services of Theo in Germany, very competent watchmaker, very well equipped (this is the problem, and why not that many watchmaker are able to work on Diapason watches .. Rob is equally valid. Please note that to regulate the watch (a few second to be adjusted), you can manage this by tuning the two turrets .. not that difficult, actually .. My first Omega f300 came back perfectly regulated no need to do anything .. the second Omega f300 I got did not need to be serviced, but I had to adjust by tuning the two turrets .. it worked no problem .. Good luck !
