Hi All, Mmmm, this one seems a bit.... neglected, at least not very much taken care of. Thinking of buying it though. Case looks sharp, dial/lume/hands all seem original, maybe (poor quality of pics) some flakes on it or be it patina, medallion looks sharp & rest is quite obvious.... Opinions are welcome: afraid that these are all the pics available: I know it's a risk etc., but for a few bob.... Thanks!! Willem
Must admit these are the sort of buys I love provided they are only a few bob. The seller certainly isn't trying to hide anything.
Although I´m no fan of C-case Constellations this one looks like it will clean up pretty well. It has some small chips and marks to the bezel and will be sure to need a service, but if it all adds up I´d say go for it. It looks from all that gunk like it was possibly worn on a NATO which has now been removed. The case back removed, then replaced and the gunk is now not lining up anymore. Watch out for `nylon rash` under there! No movement shots?
If it is cheap enough it would be worth the gamble but I sure would like to see under the hood in this one....
It looks as if there's rust spots on the dial - I think there's a pretty good reason for the missing movement shots…
Thanks for your opinions, guys. Price went up too high this time (approx €250) so I let this one pass. Next time better luck, I guess (and I will have a more thorough look in te Sales-corner too)
I wouldn´t say €250 or even €350 is too expensive. You´ll be amazed what a clean and a new crystal would do to this one. It´s all about the movement, if only a ± €150 service is necessary and no major parts then you are still getting a nicely patinated chronometer Constellation for under €550.
Maybe, maybe not. How big of a gambler are you? If you don't know, it might be best to sit this hand out. gatorcpa
