    Hi Guys,

I'm new to the Forum and my name is Geoff from Sydney, Australia.

After having a break from the hobby, I am now renewing my interest again.
I have a question in relation to Constellations....

After doing some research on various Sites, was it normal practice by Omega to match Case numbers with Calibres numbers of the same year?
Was it possible that Omega stockpiled either cases or calibres and used either, in later watches?
Would a two year variance be acceptable?

The reason I ask is that I've seen many watches with case numbers that are earlier than the calibres, and vice versa.

Upon checking many on Ebay, they can't all be Frankenwatches????...can they.

    Cheers,

    Geoff.

Hi Geoff. Glad to have another veteran rejoining the fray.

It's not only acceptable, it's commonplace.

I don't know if I'd go that far. That place is full of land mines.

There are certainly plenty of junkers on eBay, but always plenty of gems too. The junkers do outnumber the gems significantly though.

If there is a variance between calibre date and case date, what is generally taken as the date of the watch?

    Cheers,

    Geoff.

Most people tend to go by the serial number (on the movement) when dating an Omega watch.
