I´ve had this 2852 for a while and find it quite a charming piece except for the hands. I think they are original but look to have been polished so hard at some point that they appear to have shrunk and are rounded with the facet completely gone. I´m on the lookout for a good vintage set but I´m not sure of the material.

I think I´m right in assuming the markers are white gold but would I be correct to think the hands should just be steel, or were they white gold plated steel, or even solid white gold?

Your hands are dome style not because being polished so hard as you think.
What you need are silver colored facet dauphine hands which were made of steel then coated with chrome I guess.
Your second hand doesn't look like an Omega original, either.

Agreed - definitely not solid gold hands and the hands on the watch pictured are definitely not original to the watch.

Would the Omega vintage database be helpful/reliable?

    Thanks guys,

Would service replacements be a good colour match or do you think they would look too new and clash?

Original omega service replacements are unavailable for this model AFAIK (the ones of correct length - 10mm minute hand - with the "fold" in the middle rather than a flat or dome style).

Aha, looks like it will have to be (again) the long game then!

065TZ0500LG1030 is the part number for the hour/minute hands - dauphine hands, "fold" in the middle, minute hand is 10.3 mm long...second hand number (10mm long) is 066UZ1355.

    Cheers, Al
