After a Franken 2943 black dial constellation pink gold on my previous post, what do u guys think about this 18k 2782/2799, serial 137xxxxx CAL354?

By the way. What do you call this type of dial?

I would call it lovely -but unless it is just the angle of the photo - all just slightly off
the centre line doesn't appear to bisect that Omega symbol or the star.
there is a very similar one on Desmond's wonderful site

(he should get royalties for use of his site....)

I think it is the camera angle, although it didnt pass the MOY test but it seem that some of those similar models from Desmond's samples didn't do either :)
some more pictures but not very good quality

Dial and case seems to be in good shape, but the movement is not at all with rust, worn out and different shades of degradation. They may not have come together out of the factory.

And that's a dome textured dial, sometimes called Guilloché dial (incorrectly, I think).

Is it a big job to sort this movement out? Or should I just stay away? Can you put a reaso nable price range on the watch as is? Here is one more pic of the movement.

The movement doesn't look as bad in this picture, but whether it's a big job or not depends on what parts are corroded which can only be known when a watchmaker has a proper look at it. Usually the dial would go bad first before the movement, so bigger, clearer pictures of the dial are required to see if it's a redial or not. If everything is good, I think it would go for $3000 more or less, in an open auction.

Pictures are still too small for the dial, but if I have to gamble, I'd say the dial is OK.

Thanks for your help :) The price the seller asking is a bit too high so I am waiting and see if he can lower to around 3000 usd

A few spots of rust on the ratchet wheel are no big deal and very common. This part is still easy to find in any case, Omega # 330-1100. Possibly more of an issue is that there are signs that the rotor bearings are worn (scrape marks on the inside of the case back). This part is harder to find and rather more costly, 332-1403.

I overlook this scrape on inside case back ::facepalm2::. For that price this is unacceptable

Not really - it's quite common to see corrosion on the movement, particularly in the setting area (crown leaks), with the dial being pristine.

    Cheers, Al

Too many question-marks over the watch, with the price the seller is asking I might just give it a pass. Thank you guys for your help, will wait for something better :)

By the way, just wonder should the rotor also has some scrape marks as on the back cap? Or maybe it has been changed ?::confused2::::confused2::::confused2::

You're right, it's no surprise what close to the crown would normally go first. It's just that most of what I've seen when the ratchet wheel is as bad as in the first picture of the movement here, the dial is no longer anywhere near pristine. Just thought close scrutiny of the dial was warranted in this case. Of course, I haven't seen everything yet.
