I've been looking for a decent one of these with the coin edge bezel in stainless, preferably. Happen on this one; I think it looks pretty decent. Dial looks nice, case seems polished a bit, but most things look as to be expected for age. Was curious about the coloration of the interior case back? Does this like a good option overall?

That's a very nice C case Connie. It still has some circular grain of the top of the case so it hasn't been overly polished.
In all it looks to be in good condition.
I'd jump on it if the price is acceptable to you.

Case looks sharp, not polished at all. Bezel is also sharp, but in the pictures looks similar in colour to the steel case, so it's probably a steel bezel. If it has some light yellow tint then it's white gold.

What colouration of the case back are you talking about? If it looks rather dark to you, probably it's just due to lighting.

Sometimes colouration on the case back can be a sign of rotor scuffing, but I don't see any evidence of that, and so I imagine its the pic rather than the case back. NIce to see a C-Shape that still has its black polished chamfer on the case sides, and so I agree with TNT about absence of polishing. Silky guilloche dial has a few faint marks but nothing that would detract IMO.

    Cheers

Thanks for everyone; I am so happy to get such quick and knowledgable responses. (And no squirrel memes) Pulled the trigger. Hopefully this will look nice along side my pie pan and then maybe a globemaster to tie everything together... :)

It may have started with an avatar, but things had escalated since.

My concern about the inside of the caseback is the lack of any apparent service marks.

I'd have this piece off to rehab as soon as it arrives...

Good point, but hardly an issue. The watch appears to have had little wear but is of a decent age so a service is essential.

It might get one wrist shot and then off to the clinic.

Makes absolute sense to have the movement cleaned and oiled. In terms of service marks, it was not a universal practice. Some watchmakers did it while others had what could be seen as more sophisticated record systems, such that service marks have died out completely over the past fifteen years.

When I look at the rotor, it certainly looks like it's been scraping to me...

How much of a service issue might I be looking at?

In my experience servicing hundreds of these calibers, when the watch has been neglected enough to see the rotor scraping on the inside of the case back, this usually means other parts will be worn inside the watch. Sometimes that's not the case, but usually it is. It really depends on what parts are worn, how much it will cost to complete the service. Some of the parts in the automatic winding system are expensive...

Is this something any competent watchmaker should be able to work on, or would you recommend that I send out to a someone with a lot of Omega credentials?

Omega no longer distributes parts via 3rd party resellers, so they only sell parts directly to watchmakers who qualify. Although there are parts out there on the open market, the prices have risen sharply since Omega cut off those resellers.

If you have a watchmaker you know and trust, who does good work, and you don't mind paying a premium for the cost of parts, then by all means use them. If you don't have a watchmaker lined up already, I would look for someone who has access to parts directly from Omega.

    Cheers, Al
