I thought that I would share a few photos of my now fully restored 1959 Constellation reference 14381 with the factory special order luminous package (note the large triangular lume cutout on the hour hand and the lume dots on top of the arrowhead markers at 1,2,4,5,7,8,10 and 11. To get it back to original condition, we had to source the OEM low profile crystal, correct crown and - most importantly - the hands which then had to be cleaned of oxidation, replated and then relumed to match the lume dots. This particular version also has one of the caliber 551 movements in the early 17,000,000 serial production run that achieved especially good results in Omega’s accuracy trials. To my knowledge, there is only one other example of this version on OF and that is owned by TexOmega. Many thanks to TheGreekPhysique for finding the watch, MtV for sourcing the hands (a nearly impossible task) and to my watchmaker for doing a fantastic job and putting up with - and in fact indulging - my OCD tendencies. 😀

Beautiful! Way to bring this watch back to life.

I would love to see the before shots and compare to what it is now.

The watch actually has very good bones. The case is unpolished. While the lacquer on many 14381 dials tends to bubble, this dial did not and patinated beautifully. The crown was easy to find, the crystal took some time and trial and error (we tried 4 different crystals) and the hands were a nightmare. Took nearly a year to get it all correct, but we got there. Here’s the original. The changes are subtle, but the correct hands were key.

It looks great. Congratulations on the final product, a result of knowledgeable collaboration.

If I were not standing before your greater wisdom, I might have thought that the new and correct hands did not belong on that watch!

What # bracelet did you use?
It’s a 1036 with number 11 links. The links required some adjustment (and considerable swearing on my part) to achieve a decent fit.

You need to be more specific. My choice of profanity has not helped me so far.

Do you mind sharing the back of the links after the precise adjustment?

I'd be happy to. Give me a day or two to take some photos and I'll PM you with them.

And this is why Niko's sale listings are well worth reading. He finds a lot of good stuff. The 14381 isn't the only GreekPhysique sourced watch in my collection.
