Drats! Put in an attempt on this one on the 'Bay, was out-sniped. Did anyone here happen to get it? Congrats if so! I really like the looks. Maybe some input trom the experts as a learning exercise as I didn't have time to ask advice on the forum as I normally would...would this have been a "good" purchase? Thanks for all you guys do, the advice is invaluable! I "won" this a few weeks back. Not an auto, and too early to be a constellation, but it does seem in remarkable condition.
Case is a bit worn down for my taste, but movement looks good and correct. Someone got a very good buy on it. gatorcpa
By "worn down" do you mean polished? Apart from a few minor scratches I cannot see much wear. Hallmarks and numbering quite sharp.
I don't think it's been overly polished. Just looks like good honest wear to me. The patina on the case and dial seem even. Usually a good sign. gatorcpa
I believe Gator is talking about the OP's Constellation, correct me if I'm wrong. The watch you purchased looks recently polished and unfortunately the dial refinished.
I would consider that highly likely! It did not cost that much, I wanted a black dial of this vintage as a daily wearer. Even so the dial looks very professionally done. How can you tell?
Nope. You are correct. The tell on the second watch is the omega logo. It's about 20 years newer than it should be. gatorcpa
I did think it highly likely that the dial had been "refreshed" before I bought it, not least because the chances of finding a nearly 70 year dial so good is, I imagine, rather slim! I did have a quick check and could not find another similar to compare. However I am a bit embarrassed at hijacking the OP thread so may I start a new one where its deficiencies can be pointed out?
