I've had an interesting and exciting journey since I "discovered" the watch world about 10 yrs ago. Love the excitement of researching and buying a new piece, but for some reason was never quite satisfied after a few weeks. After acquiring a small, but reasonably respectable collection I decided it was time to consolidate a bit. I can now say that I have ended up with two iconic pieces that I am thrilled with. Purchased the Speedy a few weeks ago and stumbled into the SubC just yesterday. Really not sure why I didn't pick up these 2 icons much earlier in my watch journey! Anyway, I am pleasantly content (for now :)). Maybe I've become a bit cliche/predictable, but theres a reason these two watches are so sought after....theyre simply killer pieces with a ton of history. Anyway, we'll see how it goes with these two as my main rotation for a while :)

Gone but not forgotten: Explorer, Bluesy, Aqua Terra, Sinn 104, GMT ii

    That's a good collection - makes sense.

If I could only recommend two affordable luxury watches for a person's collection, these would be the ones. You can wear either one as a sports watch in jeans or a swim suit, or as a dress watch with a business suit. From beach to boardroom.

I had the opposite journey- had only two for years (GMT and Speedy) and then started adding when the bug bit me again. At some point I will need to start pruning back, and both of those two will be among the keepers. There are always fun watches to play with out there- but classics like those are lifers.

Perfect duo but what if you're travelling? You'll need a GMT :)

Actually do travel quite a bit and am on a business trip now. I do miss my GMT on these occasions....may need to break down and get another one at some point but for now enjoying these 2!

+1 on loosing the GMTII I’d have kept that vs the Sub. (Similar design, still a capable swimmer and more functionality) Although as a veteran traveler i am pretty good at calculating home time in my head now vs when I bought my GMT II ...

I think that is was an excellent consolidation.

I personally cleared out 10 watches last year to get a single dream dive watch and it was very satisfying.

My opinion is that every watch lover should have one Rolex dive watch and one Omega Speedmaster. These are quintessential watches of the modern age.

    Great pair.

On my belt of course, like MadDog often likes to do with a velcro strap.

Crazy story...so I had my name on a waitlist at a local AD and had been carefully building a relationship there. I gave up on ever getting a call so pulled the trigger on a SubC, full set from a local seller. Wouldnt you ow it, but finally got the call from the AD yesterday! Long story short I am now the owner of 2 ND SubC's!! Something about having a brand new one with my name on the warranty card couldn't resist.

There's definitely something to having your name on the papers. One of the reasons I've never gone grey.
