Good morning Gentleman, I am considering two Pie pan Constellations that are presently on sale locally, and I would like some advice regarding the dials. I do not know much about Omega, and although the new watches do not interest me, I find vintage Constellations very appealing. I think they are both Cal. 505 (number on movement). The white version is double marked with a jewelers name, and the black version is missing the medallion on the back. Hard to tell from pictures but I presume that both have been polished. Here are the pictures, seller pictures so as always not so good. 9 hours left to the sale and I presume that prices will go up with this post! Thanks for you help.
Take a scroll through this recent post on 2852's to see some similar examples: https://omegaforums.net/threads/ss-...852-cal-505-wg-markers-large-arrowhead.42427/
hello Jonathan. The first one is decent though the varnish of the dial is faded. For the second one I would skip. To many issues, dial possibly redone or at least used. The hairspring is not really in the middle of the Omega logo and th star too. Plus the medalion is horrible. What is the price range? bonne journée.
The seller says that the medallion on the black dial has fallen off. With 9 hours left to bid, the black one is presently at 250chf and the white dial is at 350chf. With posting it here I presume it will rise rapidly.
Any pic with the second hand not blocking the 'i' in Constellation. Along with many other things, a usual tell-tale of a messed with dial is that the dot in the 'i' is missing. I am always suspicious when hands are blocking details on a dial.
Thanks all! I'm in no rush for this so I will wait for better examples to come along. Need to do some work research before diving into this!
The first watch is decent and original on the outside. Don't know what condition the inside is in. The second one is a mess. What you are seeing on the back is the glue that remained after the gold medallion fell off. gatorcpa
