    Hello All,
I'm quite new to this forum although have been reading the ads section for a while when I was looking for my Speedy.

I'm looking to get a Constellation and have been reading around the subject seeing examples and trying to figure out from the vast range of variations the model that I want.

I'm looking for a dog leg, 18K gold with silver pie pan dial. I appreciate some of that description might be incorrect. I've looked at a couple of examples in the UK including one very nice rose gold model but that had the wrong crown.
I'm not looking for a perfect example with box and papers but want a fairly clean example that has been worn and had a life.

I think I've found one that might be within my reach. I did have a few questions about the combination of dial and lettering but having looked up the model on the Omega vintage site it seems to match the black and white photo.

Can I post links to an advert in here to get members opinion on the watch?

Areas of concern are that the tone of the gold on the case looks slightly different to the case back and crown.
some staining around the surfaces of the case back , almost looks like worn plating but the case does show markers where you would expect to find them for a solid gold case.

BTW I've been reading Desmonds blog as a excellent source of info. Was a little confused about the dial spelling and two lines of text under the applied logo but it does seem to check out.

The dial of the watch in your pic was repainted at sometime in the past.

I've attached some photo's from the advert. Some sites don't allow direct links to ads but let me know what the conventions are here.

LOL but of course that's one major concern so finding the black and white reference photo on the Omega site that shows the same dial layout is a good first step.

Zoom in on the mating surface of the case back and It looks like white metal. of course that could just be relections or glare. I'm on the wrong side of the atlantic to see this one in the metal.

Oh yeah! And lots of collectors still see it as their reference bible.

Any thoughts from the good people of Omega Fourms?

I am always hesitant when I see a 168.005 without ‘Officially Certified’ on the dial. Normally you would expect to see a 14902 in this configuration. It’s an early version so I am sure all is fine and just a cross over model, - makes me wary though.
Not sure your going to get a definitive answer on the legitimacy of the gold case. All I can say when I compare with mine all looks correct and the edges seem nice and sharp.

Thank you for the info Noddyman, I spent a chunk of Sunday researching and reading about Constellation dials. The lack of the 'Officially Certified' almost put me off until I saw the Reference pic and I quite like the two line simplicity. I have seen other examples but can't recall if they were in the earlier case shapes.

I think I'll call the dealer and have a chat and see if there's more pics of the the case and if he's got any more history.

The 14902 shares the same case and nearly all came with just the two lines of text. I have also seen a few 168.005 in this same configuration so please don’t assume this is wrong.
