image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg I'm thinking about buying this speedmaster. I'd like to know what would the experts think about this one. The owner says he had it serviced recently. Also wondering what would be the top price to pay for this watch? Thanks

Says for serviced w/o bracelet around $4200.

It looks at thought it has seen a bit of polish as the photos suggest the crisp edge between the brushed and mirror finish on the case sides is a bit soft. The dial is charming and the good condition DON is a nice plus. And the full linked 1039/516 is no slouch.

    That bezel tho.... Nice DON.
I can't recall if it's correct for the period though, but it's a great ++. A good catch if you pull the trigger. Step dial and hands look correct as well.

The bezel on ebay will fetch $1500 because it is a nice one.
Unusual and means it needs to be taken into account when valuing

It's unfortunate that he serviced it because it may have been unpolished before it was tarted up for sale.

Nevertheless, the bezel is good and the dial and handset are attractive.

Just make sure you don't pay 321 money for it.

The bracelet and bezel alone are worth quite a sum and the watch apart from the light polish looks good. Go get it ;).

    That's why I said $1500 not $2000!

It's my opinion, based on comparing recent sales.

Personally I don't quite get it. Or shall I say I am irritated by it, but you can't hold back the winds of change.

    That's a lot, wow.

A nice watch, but I believe some 145.022-68s have been sold in that range recently, perhaps I would hold out for one of those if that was my budget...

Although what do I know, and if the dial is indeed browning a bit (hard to tell from the pictures), the price could be justified?

I wonder if we're starting to see prices go up... This is your standard (though attractive and good-condition) pre-moon 145.022, with a bracelet. I'd have expected this to top at around $3500, especially on eBay!

Consider though what a clean DON bezel on its own sells for, what a clean 861 movement sells for and a clean bracelet and endlinks will sell for, even before the case and dial/hands. At $3500 you could break it up and bring a solid profit, which is what's pushed these up so much.

That's true, but still - these were selling for around that amount just a month or two ago. Whether they were broken up or enjoyed as-is....

U cant look at it like that. Straight lugs shot up in price and people want the bezel. Worth more on them than 145.022. People always say how can prices go up this much and then refrain from buying only to come back months later asking if the price can still be had from before lol
