Considering Purchasing 1958 Seamaster, Too good to be true?

I am contemplating purchasing a 1958 Seamaster but wanted to get opinions as to whether it is too good to be true. I am assured it is an original dial, with moderate polishing to the case, original movement etc. Basically a NOS condition piece. As the asking price is roughly $1500, which although more expensive than many members here would be willing to pay, is a price I'm comfortable paying if the watch is as stated. Any opinions would be helpful.

    Redial and too polished.

The SWISS and MADE are too far apart. That price is almost 3 times higher than it's worth.

EDIT - Sellers say "original dial" when the disc of metal is the original one despite it being refinished. Collectors only think of it as original when it has the finish it left the factory with. It's semantics that work in favor of the seller when a n00b is looking at their watch.

Completely agree with ULF (he is one of the OF's "sniffer dogs", and is damn good at it). That dial and hands are "too perfect" for a watch approaching 60 yrs old (yes, I know about NOS, but only select sellers have true access to those).

Agree with both the above. I'd be wary especially at that price.

With the issued pointed out above, it's worth a fraction of the asking price.

Always sad when sellers describe pieces like that as NOS when they're just lipstick on a pig

for that price i'd say go for a pie pan constellation! everything is refinished in this watch. Its basically for looks.
