·I think the 38 sizing is just right along with the readability of the sub dial layout. However, the date at 4 simply bugs me. My EP CM triple date date position still bugs me to this day, and thats a watch from the noughties!

Difficult to capture this beauty, amazing watch but hate the PCL butterfly clasp bracelet ( as I hate my 57 bracelet) Now looking for a nice leather strap but 21mm is a pain in the ass.

·Thanks to everyone for their input. I finally decided to pull the trigger, and then managed to find one…. I went with the 38mm (1) more Zenith traditional date location and (2) 42mm is too big for my taste for a watch that wears big.
I’m happy as a clam! 😜

·I've owned both the 38mm had the 42mm, and I'd recommend the 38mm for even the largest of wrists. The 38mm is more historically faithful, looks more proportional to me, and the movement actually fits the case.
Would you want a Moonwatch in 45mm when the 42mm is available? How about a 44mm Sub when a 41mm is available?

·Congrat on the choice of OP. Date at 4.30 is a tell tale of Zenith. As to size 38 vs 42mm, if in serious doubt one could go vintage and find a 40mm vintage De Luca, naturally showing date as a Zenith should do😉.

·So after over a year, I FINALLY got to try on a couple of El Primero's side-by-side to do the 38mm vs 42mm comparison myself. Once I saw them on my 7.5" wrist, I'm really glad I didn't jump on the last few remaining 38mm pieces that popped up for sale earlier this year (pre-June re-release) so it's now a decision between the old 42mm EP or the new 41mm Chronomaster Sport (although the new 41mm Black Bay Chrono sitting next door in the Tudor case also looked mighty fine!).
I was only able to try the Chrono Sport on a fabric strap (not a huge fan) so now need to hunt down that beautiful watch on a steel bracelet within the SF Bay area!
