I've been around here a while and know that some are annoyed by threads like this so to those, please ignore. I bought a 3570.50 Speedy about a year ago with no box or papers and really enjoy wearing it. My Seiko diver is great I'd just like to add an Omega. Just like the Speedy, the diver will be worn regularly and not a safe queen. I've also got a pretty firm grasp on the difference between the Gen1 Planet Ocean, Gen 2 PO and the Seamaster MC and their strengths and weaknesses. I'm interested in which one of the ones I have listed would you, or did you buy and why. I'm not interested in anything LE or vintage. My wrist measures 7.5"-7.75". I like orange and am torn between the three color variations of the PO. The MC is also quite appealing because of the "new vintage" look. I'm at a great disadvantage in that it is a 3 hour drive to an AD and 5.5 hour drive to an OB so I can't ogle them frequently until I make up my mind. It would be helpful to hear your experiences and ideas regarding these divers. Thanks!

It's always worth the trip to the OB . The PO and the 300 MC are both awesome divers and very different style wise.
When I sat down with both models I chose the 300. I liked the shiny ceramic bezel and the sharper angles of the case.
If you really like the PO I would consider waiting a few months for the MC PO to come on sale.

It's probably my old frog eyes, but even the best of pictures don't seem to do justice to most watches and I wonder if that is the case with the 300MC. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience deryk!

    300m is great but.

I've got the same size wrists and the Gen 1 45.5 works no problem. The newer ones are just too tall and I did not like how they sat on the wrist

A 2500c or d with the Orange Bezel vs a 300. Hard choice.

I actually considered a used one but that is still out of my financial reach. Most likely whatever I buy will be used.

Hard choice is correct. Love the 300 with it's classy retro and I can also see a Gen 1 PO orange bezel slightly faded being very cool on the more sporty side of the spectrum........

    I'd go SMP - swordhands ...

    those are already "a classic"

I'cant believe that Omega was too stupid/inept to develop this line of watches ...

IMHO that is the ONLY Omega watch that is on par with a Rolex Sub in terms of timeless-classic-design ...

instead we get $7k cartoon characters on the dial ::facepalm1::

I forgot about the sword hands. Definitely an option. I did purposely leave out the Seamaster Pro.......it doesn't do anything for me.

I know the feeling, our watch tastes are very similar. My main rotation is PO Chrono 3133 in Orange, then a Sieko Diver SKX009, I just purchased my first speed pro a -76 and it is now a 3 way fight for wrist time. When I got my 3133 the 9500 had just come out, and after wearing both there was no question due to the height. That and I preferred the 3 subdials. The 300 is great but what spoke to me was the Spectre, with the 24 hour bezel and slight change to the dial it just popped for me. Like you the SMP does not do all that much for me, though I will admit the all black SMP with the non wavey dial has grown on me alot the past few months.

It is hard to know until you try them on. I was thinking about the PO and the SM300, after trying them on the SM300 was the one I wanted. It gets a lot of wrist time. I think that you need to go to the shop and compare them in the flesh. You might also try something else and find that you want that more.

I'm in/was in a similar situation as yourself. Closest AD is a couple hours away and I have been looking at the exact same models...and we have the same size wrists. I had pulled the trigger on a gently used PO 600 ref# 232.32.46.51.01.005. I really liked the two subdials and subtle splashes of orange. The rubber strap with deployant clasp is comfortable and wears well. The watch itself is great to look at, easy to read, and sits well on wrists of our size. You have to enjoy the feeling of a meaty watch on your wrist as it's girth and weight are not slight. In the end, it did not quite possess the "je ne sais quoi" I was wanting and I let it go.

Now, I'm actively shopping for an SM 300MC. Having tried it on, it clicks with what I want. Albeit smaller diameter, it still has a nice wrist presence and can be dressed up or down making it the slightly more versatile choice.

FWIW, that's been my experience so far. I hope it helps and happy hunting.

Always surprised to hear people like the 300 over the SMPc. It is the perfect watch, in my opinion. Alas, different strokes.Good luck with your purchase.

    Hi @Flingit1200s

There are NO SHORT CUTS !
If @Riviera Paradise is reading this post , he would tell you the same thing. I'm sorry but YOU need to wear & feel both watches on your wrist before a decision is made !

I chose the 300MC. I have smaller wrists than you :)

I buy the co-axial story and wanted a tough watch that would last and require the least amount of service. Most of my watches are vintage, so I really like the vintage style of the 300MC. I also really like the sapphire back, so that I can see the movement. I think the movement is fantastic.

I'm happy with my purchase. I think it's a really nice watch.

    IMG_3666.jpg stuff and watches-20150905-9050050.jpg

Of all my watches, this is the most comfortable bracelet, in a large part because it is easily adjustable throughout the day. However, I find straps so much more comfortable. I'm still trying to find the right strap.

this strap is comfortable, but not the right something. It's too red maybe? I don't know. IMG_4452.jpg

I just got a new black strap that I'm trying out. I think I like it, but it makes the whole watch feel very black. Which is funny, because I also own the DSOM and that's not a problem for me on that watch.

Very nice watch! The black strap works better for me. Love the style. Still trying to decide here. Need to take a trip. The 300MC bracelet looks great. The one on my Seiko is similar although of lesser quality but is very comfy.

Well boys and girls, I took a shortcut. Alexthegreat on WUS had a PO 8500 42mm for sale with no box, papers and a cheap strap. We struck a deal that left me some room to buy an Omega bracelet. Alex was great to work with and the watch arrived in a condition that was just as he represented. I added a watch gecko mesh that looks great to me. The whole package was reasonable enough to hopefully allow for a nice used 300MC soon. Thanks for everyone's help!
