I'm a newby to vintage watches and am considering my first purchase of this watch. I'd appreciate any comments from experienced eyes regarding "genuiness" and thoughts on what might be a fair price for a dealer please? Asking price is 700 Euros /US$800 /AU$1050 (negotiable) Ref. 166.041 Cal. 565 Year 1971 Movement #33598478

 

DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH.

Not a desirable model and the dial has been rather poorly refinished and the case polished.

Worth about $200-$250 USD max.

 

I had a geneve last year, keep in mind they wear quite small on the wrist. I upgraded to a speedmaster and dont plan on looking back.

 

Jeez that's one ugly bd and asking 700 Euros too! Run away and have a look at the Private Sales Forum here for much better watches at much better prices

 

I will endorse @X350 XJR on it being poorly refinished and over polished.
As for desirability, I happen to like those cases and style, I deem them bargains rather an undesirable
But seriously the lume looks glopped on and dial face inconsistent with the rather considerable wear on the markers and hands. I suspect it has had a hard life because that's a fairly young watch for the condition.
