Hi,

I am looking to hunt down my very first Constellation, and i came to this one.

Because I am new, so I think it would be wise to ask for opinion before pulling the trigger

Questions I have is this a old redial?

And if it's not, those rough like texture on dial is a result of paint aging? From your POV, do you think the condition of case and dial are acceptable?

From a 1 to 10 point scale, where would you rate it?
(10 Points = Perfect)

Thank you

This is a frankenwatch. The pie pan dials are generally found with the later cal. 505 movements. Also the cal. 501 movements used in earlier Ref. 2852 Constellations had special engraving regarding the chronometer adjustments.

Now it could be that only the rotor assembly was replaced. The movement had a lot of problems with the rotor bearings and I’m not sure that Omega ever offered the proper engraved rotor for the chronometer versions. I have a watch like this.

I cannot tell if the dial has a poor re-laquer job, or is a total redial. The crown is incorrect and medallion is quite worn.

Due to the movement issues, there is not a huge value to this watch.

Hi Gatorcpa,

Thank you for the input,

From what you pointed out, not only Cal 501 doesn't belong to this PiePan, and the rotor in that movement also not belong to Cal 501?

Lucky I asked

Thank you for clearing the clouds

In the best case scenario ONLY the rotor was replaced. It’s probably the entire mouvement, though. I’ve never seen such heavily polished case on a 2853!! Jeez 😲

Indeed, I come to the right places asking y'all for opinion, If i bought this without asking, I'll definitely have some heartache some day.

Thank you
