So this old "Omega Seamaster" has Omega and Swiss made, but I was told by an eBay "expert" it was fake because of the 18K gold mark. What do you people think?

Meets the general criteria for being a fake.

Well, you can understand how us regular folks can be spoofed. It was found in with a bunch of watches from of an old family member (deceased).

Fake-to-the-bone, which is even worse than bad-to-the-bone.

The external case back marking is a fake copy of an Omega 18kt mark on a fake solid gold case which is plated in who-knows-what and which houses a fake Omega movement of unknown origin, which has been stamped with a fake Omega trademark and provided with a dial with a poorly executed surface finish and a poorly executed fake Omega marking.

Omega did not mark thei exterior of their 18kt solid gold case backs in such a manner. Omega's level of workmanship never descended to that level of inferiority.

Beaten to it by people who know more than me.
To make it easy, the 2 instantly obvious signs to me are:
    1. company markings on the outside of the caseback
    2. the cheap looking movt., which doesn't look like any legit Omega movt.

Don't get all your panties bunched up, I will be tossing it. All very insightful. I really appreciate the education and I'm glad it wasn't sold or even worse I had given it to my son. I'll stay with Timex. Just kidding. LOL.
    Thanks again. GSM

Quick rule of thumb: Only fakes have codes on the case back outside.
