As many of you know, I'm a strong advocate for condition, condition, condition. But we all make exceptions - maybe because it's a very uncommon or rare example or you just take a liking to the watch. Here are a few that I've "compromised" on the CCC rule. As @Bill Sohne likes to say, when are you going to find another one? Cal. 501 chronometre: CH27 chronograp. The dial is obviously heavily aged but the case is unpolished and unlike the watch at the end of this list this was a go for it from the start. Marine - tiny and I never wear it but historic and I thought this is probably as good a shape as I'm going to find it in: 35.5 mm 30T2Rg in 18k rose gold. Cal. 352 chronometre. How often are you going to see original black dial chronometres that are not constellations? Would love to see other examples from OF members if you have them! Cal. 321 in a 37.5mm 18k rose gold case. This one I thought long and hard about - not only was the dial patinated but the case was also polished and worked on. In the end pulled the trigger and haven't regretted it 8 years or so later:
Great thread Your favourite watches will not always be your nicest! CCC rule helps me to make better decisions, and wisdom comes from knowing when to break the rules
You need this case for the first one. Pestering Dennis for months to get this one from his squirrel grasp worked......
Amazing examples, if patina is that even my OCD would let me have them. If there is only one flaw on dial, hands can´t get over. It does not matter how rare or special it is.
Will have a new thread started for your OCD shortly though truth be told to adhere to CCC you'd have to be pretty OCD.
Patina tells a story, and let’s you know the honesty of the watch. I had my, when will find another earlier this week with my 6542. The dial has flaws, the bezel is not perfect...but it’s right as rain and honest.
