Surely it’s better than winding the hands 9-12?
(You don’t need to push it all the way in)
And as posted before - make sure the hands aren’t between 9 and 3
Yes, thank you, I'll keep those points in mind....it is a nice alternative to the standard turning method...reminds me of a nice 1960's pie pan Connie I once had with such a quick-date feature...

When I get my hands on a proper caseback tool, I'll check the movement number.

My 2nd Admiralty has just arrived....this time very clean white dial with the black tipped hands (very easy to read!) Auto movement and quick-set date.

This time I'm embracing the stretch band...(for now).
I'm on the lookout for a nice black dialed one to complete the triad.

Congrats! Great catch !

Oh, I forgot the corresponding Omega fixo-flex bracelet. It's ref. ST1122/608

By the way, @1jansen it looks like that FIxo-Flex is fitted with the short-lug end pieces...it won't fit your Amiralties unfortunately.

Please explain, not sure what you mean by "winding 9-12" and "make sure then hands aren't between 9 and 3", you mean the hour hand?

On the models without the quick set date, you can avoid having to rotate the hands a full 24 hours for each day by winding past midnight to flip the date, then backing the hands up to around 9 PM - you may see the date indicator jostle a little at this point,. Then move the hands for ward again past midnight and it will flip to the next date. It saves a lot of winding of the hands doing it this way.

When using the quick set (push pull) on the 563 or later movements, you need to make sure that the date indicator driving wheel is not already engaged in the date change, or it can damage the quick change parts or the date indicator itself. The "9 to 3" refers to 9 pm to 3 am, which is the time when the date change may still cause problems if you use the quick set function. My advice is to move the hands to 6:30 - doesn't matter if it's am or pm that will be a safe time as long as the date actually changes around midnight.

Cheers, Al

Ah, thank you for the clarification.
Ha!!...I never tried that trick for non-quickset date movements!...I've only had one or two over the years. I suppose however that not all of them can be fooled into this semi-quickset date trick(?).

@Archer : have you seen more inherrant mechanical problems (loose crowns or stems) with these Push-Pull quickset movements?...I get nervous about loosening the stem or winding crown with such repeated pulls.....or am I just paranoid?

Fair enough!...
Another question for @Archer or whoever else may know...
I've seen some Date models with plain crystals, but others with a magnification "reverse cyclops" (underside):

Were these the original crystals or are they replacements?

I picked up 1963 Seamaster dress watch 166.010 with 562 Non-quickset date and the above trick DID NOT WORK. When I turned the hands back to 9, the date changed BACK!!!
I was stuck having to rotate the hands all the way around to set the date. I didn't realize there were different types of non quick-set dates...mine is the "foolproof" kind or "slow-set date"

Ah!,,,....DAH!....It DOES work....that Date wheel "jostle" you mention above made me assume it was going back, but watching it now all the way, it clicks, but doesn't go back afterall!...nice! Learning curve!
It's semi-quick set. You just have to wind back forth between 9 and 12...very cool...can't believe I'm just learning this. Does this work on quickset movements as well?

Im quite interested in learning more about Omega Admiralties. Particularly the version with the turning bezel that looks like a diving watch. They seem to be quite hard to find, were many made?

I have 3 x NOS bezelled cases for them. One red, one blue and one grey. Having difficulty finding original movements, hands, crowns and dials as want to make them complete.
