Hi guys! I'm considering buying this Compax with this interesting logo (Serial no. starts with 79 dating it to 1938). The said logo can be found in the Sala book (page 18). The book said the said logo was developed in 1929 and was supposedly used in chronograph dials. I didn't see it anywhere on the book though. Is this legit? What can you guys say about it? Thanks!

    Hi,

It's called a "Savoy knot". It's the emblem of the ruling house of Savoy. According to sources, It was used primarily in italian heraldry.
I have already seen such a logo on a universal geneve and to me it's original. As it was on a watch coming from Italy, we could conclude that the watch you are referring comes from there too.

    Best

    It seems original indeed...
If I am correct you should find the second generation logo inside the caseback: the wheel with Universal written on top like on page 91 of Sala's book
