I have a seamaster 120 with gold dial and gold hands that has a 1438. It's hard for me to read without contrast. I found a black dial for a 1538 that would be easier to read with the gold hands. Are these dials interchangable?

I read somewhere that the 1438 and 1538 are based on the same ETA movement but I'm wondering about the alignment pins.

The 1438 is discontinued, and is replaced by the 1538.

Thanks for the info, but are the dials interchangable? I have a seamaster 120m Cal 1438 with a gold dial and I'm considering buying a black dial from a seamaster 120m Cal 1538 and having them swapped. Will the alignment pins from the newer dial be in the right position on my 1438? Our should I sell the watch "as is" and get one that I can read better. Will the dial swap kill any potential real value down the road?
