Wrong hour and minutes hands, blued instead of gold seconds hand, the movement seems quite heavily marked and has clearly got, or had, rotor problems. The case front has seen some polishing too. Still a very attractive watch though!
Well here I have no input, as my knowledge of these doesn´t extend to the K count! I´m confidently guessing then that 14k is to be expected?
Yes very much so. As observed the hands are clearly wrong and the dial condition does not appear to match the movement condition.
The watch is a franken made from an early OT2627 from '52 and a dial from a deluxe OJ2757 from '55. Wrong case reference (should be 2757), wrong movement number (should be 355), wrong metal (should be 14k not 18k), wrong hands (luminous with blue hand is totally wrong) and wrong serial/case number (off by about 3 years...). Sad thing is someone might be be foolish enough to fall for it especially considering the effort put into the nonsense description accompanying the ad: The reality is he has no knowledge of what he speaks and simply makes up whatever he has to in order to get a sale much like the "Gerald Genta" nonsense added to the last Constellation Deluxe listing on a watch designed nearly 10 years before Genta got to the company. Sad thing is this watch may have actually been quite a nice original OT2627 calendar before he decided to chop it up and add the 2757 deluxe dial to make some more cash.
I had a friend who was about to make a HARD play for this watch and I was only shown the front view, told it was a ref. 2627 and 18k. I knew right off 2627 and 18k did not mix. Dial I could not remember seeing on the 2627 except the stepped pie pan. I did the ole cry out to MSN real fast for help which he quickly gave. Averted a mistake. It was not till later I actually saw this ad and the seller.... MSN had even told who at the time but went over my PD brain at the time and I said I hoped he pulled. What a joke. Really think the brain trust did the OF crew a solid with the heave ho. IMHO....
Sadly with the price where it is now it looks like someone is in for a very nasty surprise when they finally figure out what they've purchased
Ah, I shall say no more............ There I go again sticking my foot in it, guess he didn't exit gracefully
I guess I shouldn't put up for sale my posting of the RARE 1945 Omega Bond Planet Ocean 18k Gold with marble dial...Damn, I thought that one would sell so well
